"Jim Wagner is among the most important Taos artists of the last 40 years. His ecstatic paintings of the Taos landscape and witty portrayals of its denizens, human and animal, have established him as perhaps the iconic figure of what has come to be known as Chapter III in Taos art history – the period stretching from the late ‘60s to the present. In his furniture and sculpture, he draws on centuries-old Hispanic designs and makes them his own by incorporating decorative elements, most recently using fused glass, that reflect his impeccable senses of composition, color and inimitable humor."

"I am glad to be an artist, I like the life style that it presents, the wonderful people and experiences it brings to me. At times, I have loved making art and at other times I have resisted it and denied my involvement with it. But, I am most centered when I am working; I know this. I try to be as centered when I am sweeping the floor. Both are difficult, making art and sweeping the floor."
